ECHO Ontario Superhub

Until recently, training to implement the ECHO model was provided exclusively by the University of New Mexico. With the movement spreading quickly, Superhub sites have been developed to train and support new ECHO projects. The ECHO Ontario Superhub, a collaboration between CAMH and UHN, serves new ECHO projects in Ontario and in Canada.

Along with training, the ECHO Ontario Superhub:

Leads provincial ECHO initiatives:
- monthly ECHO Ontario collaborative meetings
- an annual ECHO Ontario conference
- strategic planning support for the growth of the ECHO Model in Ontario
Provides all existing, new and potential ECHO programs in Ontario with ongoing mentorship
Leads the development and implementation of quality improvement frameworks for ECHO programs in Ontario
Acts as an agent of the ECHO Institute to expand the ECHO Model in Ontario

Denise Canso

Director, ECHO Ontario Superhub

Denise Canso is the Acting Director, Northern Outreach & Virtual Care, Ontario Psychiatric Outreach Program and ECHO. In this role, Denise will provide strategic direction and oversight to ECHO Ontario Mental Health at CAMH and ECHO Ontario Superhub, drawing on over 10 years of collaborative change leadership and team-building experience in program development, integrated virtual care, mental health outreach, research management, as well as healthcare infrastructure and systems planning in five Canadian provinces and territories. Denise is a collaborative change leader and driven to contribute to initiatives aligned with the social determinants of health, inclusion, and health equity principles. She completed a Master of Science in Health Care & Epidemiology from the University of British Columbia and is a certified project management professional.

Dr. John Flannery

Co-Chair, ECHO Ontario Superhub

Dr. John Flannery has been a specialist in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation for 25 years. His area of specialty has included the entire gamut of all the physical rehab domains including amputee, burn, electro-diagnostic medicine, chronic and musculoskeletal pain, as well as all of the neurologic rehabilitation fields (ABI, Stroke and SCI). He was Residency Program Director at U of T for over 10 years, as well as the lead for the Specialty Committee at the Royal College for four of those years (2009-12). He has been the Medical Director of the MSK and Multisystem Rehab Program at Toronto Rehab since 2003. In 2013, he was selected by peers and administrators in the GTA as one of 30 top "Toronto Docs" and profiled in Toronto Life magazine for his compassionate care and leadership in Rehab.

Currently, in his leadership role at Toronto Rehab, his main areas of focus include educational system level endeavors. This includes his role as the Co-Chair of ECHO Ontario Superhub with its international reach into over 30 hubs with particular interest in the facilitation process of learning. As well, he is the Co-Medical Director of Comprehensive Integrated Pain Program at University Health Network and Medical Director of Rehab Pain Service at Toronto Rehab.

Dr. Allison Crawford

Co-Chair, ECHO Ontario Superhub

Allison Crawford is co-Chair of ECHO Ontario Mental Health. She is a psychiatrist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Toronto, where she is the Director of the Northern Psychiatric Outreach Program and Telepsychiatry at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. She has worked as a psychiatrist in Nunavut for 10 years. Her research focus is on outreach and transcultural psychiatry, including: issues related to access and equity; cultural safety; collaborative and community-based care; and technology. Current projects include: consulting to Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, with the Mental Health Commission of Canada, to create a Canadian National Inuit Suicide Prevention Strategy; and developing online educational resources on Inuit cultural safety and trauma-informed care (www.inuitstorybones.ca). She is on the Scientific Advisory Group to the Arctic Council, and consults to the Inuit Circumpolar Council.

Rhonda Mostyn

Member, ECHO Ontario Superhub

Rhonda Mostyn is the Project Manager for ECHO at University Health Network, responsible for operations of five ECHO programs. Prior to joining ECHO in 2014, she worked extensively in health care as clinician/care provider, followed by roles as clinic director and then director of clinical education and training. Rhonda is also a member of the ECHO Ontario Superhub, where she contributes to training for new ECHO programs in Ontario and is a member of the ECHO Ontario annual conference committee.

Victoria Bond

Member, ECHO Ontario Superhub

Victoria Bond is the Acting Manager of ECHO Ontario Mental Health at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Ontario and a member of the ECHO Ontario Superhub. Victoria holds a Master’s degree in Health Science, Technology, and Policy from Carleton University. Victoria has been implementing and evaluating provincial and national ECHO programs aimed to support evidence-based mental health and addictions care since 2019. She has a passion for health equity and developing efficiency within the healthcare system.

Anna Mugimba

Partner Liaison, ECHO Ontario Superhub

Anna Mugimba is a Senior Project Analyst/Partner Liaison for the ECHO Ontario Superhub at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. As a Partner Liaison, Anna provides potential, new, and existing ECHO programs throughout Canada the orientation, training, and ongoing mentorship needed to successfully replicate the ECHO model. Anna is a digital health professional with over 12 years of experience in the mental health and addictions sector. Anna has extensive experience with business support services, data management and human-centered design. She has led a variety of projects from inception, implementation, and, ultimately, to sustainable operation. Anna is passionate about advancing digital healthcare, building capacity and making technology easily translatable.
