The ECHO Act is officially U.S. law!
President Obama signed the measure after it had been previously approved unanimously in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.
Proposed by Senators Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) in the Senate and Representatives Michael Burgess (R-Texas) and Doris Matsui (D-California) in the House, the ECHO Act directs the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to examine the impact of technology-enabled collaborative learning and capacity-building models. It requires a report back to Congress with recommendations for reducing barriers to use, furthering opportunities for adoption, and promoting continuing education and lifelong learning.
