Dr. Andrea Andrade joined the Department of Paediatrics and Clinical Neurological Sciences at the Children’s Hospital in 2015, where she is appointed as an Assistant Professor at Western University, leading the pediatric epilepsy program in London Ontario. Dr. Andrade obtained  her medical degree in Mexico City at the Anahuac University Medical School. Subsequently, she completed her General Pediatrics and Pediatric Neurology trainings  in Mexico City where she is certified by the Mexican board in both Pediatrics and Neurology.She moved to Dallas, Texas in 2005,  where she completed a 3 year fellowship in Child Neurology and a 2 year Clinical Neurophysiology/Pediatric epilepsy fellowship with a focus on pediatric  vEEG interpretation  and pediatric epilepsy surgery evaluations at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. During her time in Dallas, Dr. Andrade was elected chief resident by the pediatric neurology division, where she developed her interest in medical education. She also was the winner of the 2009 Neurology Resident teaching award.In 2011, Dr. Andrade moved to Toronto Canada, where she completed a 3 year clinical fellowship in Pediatric Stroke. During this time, she also acted as a clinical fellow in the pediatric epilepsy program at The Hospital for Sick Children. During her time in Toronto, Dr. Andrade was the winner of the trainee CanMeds award in 2013, and the trainee Teaching award in 2014.Dr. Andrade’s main clinical and research interests are medically refractory epilepsies in children, pediatric epilepsy surgery, pediatric videoEEG, pediatric stroke, and the effect of acute seizures in pediatric stroke.  Dr. Andrade has a number of publications in both fields, pediatric epilepsy and pediatric stroke.
