Project ECHO (Extension of Community Health Outcomes) Care of the Elderly is launching on October 30 2017 with the vision to enhance the quality of care to older adults in Ontario, by improving the knowledge and skills of primary care providers in meeting the healthcare needs of older adults.
ECHO Care of the Elderly will connect primary care providers to an interprofessional team of geriatric specialists through biweekly videoconferencing sessions.
ECHO Clinic Sessions will be held biweekly on Mondays 3-4:30 pm starting January 8, 2018. The 1.5 hour session includes a 10-15 minutes didactic presentation related to care of the elderly followed by 1-2 patient case presentations (de-identified) by participants.
ECHO Clinic Sessions will consist of didactic lectures with the following topics. Flex sessions will be included to address additional learning interests identified throughout the ECHO cycle.
- Dementia – Screening and Diagnosis
- Responsive Behaviors (Behavioral & Psychological Symptoms of Dementia)
- Mood Disorders
- Sleep Disorders
