Conference Learning Objectives:

Allison Crawford MD PhD FRCPC

Co-Chair, ECHO Ontario Superhub

Dr. Allison Crawford, MD, PhD is a psychiatrist at CAMH and the Chief Medical Officer of 9-8-8: Suicide Crisis Helpline, Canada’s new 3-digit suicide prevention service (www.9-8-8.ca).  She is also Medical Director of Psychiatry Outreach and Virtual Care at CAMH, and Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry, and Dalla Lana School of Public Health, at the University of Toronto.
 
Allison is a scientific advisor to the Sustainable Development Working Group of the Arctic Council and leads the University of Toronto’s membership in the UArctic. In 2021-2022 she held Fulbright Research Chair in Public Health at the Centre for Indigenous Studies at Johns Hopkins University. Her research focuses on ensuring access to mental health, suicide prevention, and equity and cultural safety in digital health.
 
With a PhD in English literature, Allison also researches the role of the arts in community health and well-being through her HeART lab (www.healthequityART.com) for health equity through art, research and technology.

Andrea D. Furlan MD PhD

Co-Chair, ECHO Ontario Superhub

Andrea D. Furlan MD PhD is Professor in the Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Department of Medicine, University of Toronto. She is Senior Scientist at KITE Institute of UHN, and physician lead of the Rehabilitation Pain Service at UHN's Toronto Rehabilitation Institute. 

She is chair of ECHO Ontario Chronic Pain and Opioid Stewardship at UHN, and principal investigator of a CIHR-funded project to expand and study the implementation of other ECHO pain hubs in Canada. She is co-chair of the ECHO Ontario Superhub and has been involved with ECHO activities in Ontario since 2014.

Roxana Sultan

Chief Data Officer and Vice President, Health - Vector Institute

Roxana Sultan is the Chief Data Officer and Vice President, Health at the Vector Institute. She leads Vector’s data and technology strategies, as well as Vector’s contributions to Ontario’s and Canada’s health AI sector. Roxana oversees Vector’s data governance and data stewardship programs, as well as its high-performance computing and cybersecurity initiatives. Along with our health sector partners, Roxana drives applications of AI to life sciences, fostering discovery and public and private sector health AI deployment projects to advance impact within the Ontario health ecosystem.
 
Roxana has over 20 years of leadership experience in the Ontario health system, including with the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in the University Health Network, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), The Hincks-Dellcrest Centre (now “SickKids Centre for Community Mental Health”), Cancer Care Ontario, and the Hospital for Sick Children. Roxana holds an Adjunct Professor appointment with the University of Toronto in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, where she teaches at the graduate level on the topics of intelligent medicine and machine learning.

Dr. Wiljer is the Associate Dean, CPD, at Temerty Faculty of Medicine and Professor (status only), Department of Psychiatry, at University of Toronto. Dr. Wiljer is also the Executive Director, Education Technology Innovation, at UHN.

Anupam Thakur

Psychiatrist-in-Chief at Surrey Place in Toronto

Dr. Anupam Thakur is a psychiatrist and education scholar at The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and serves as Psychiatrist-in-Chief at Surrey Place in Toronto. His work spans clinical innovation, education, and health system design, with a focus on improving access and quality of care. Anupam’s academic interests are focused on building capacity and expertise in intellectual and developmental disabilities and enhancing medical education using technology.

Marta Maslej

Staff Scientist with The Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics (KCNI)

Marta Maslej, PhD, is a Staff Scientist with The Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics (KCNI) at The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, Assistant Professor with the Department of Psychiatry at The University of Toronto, and co-lead of the Predictive Care Team at KCNI. Her team uses interdisciplinary methods to understand how AI applications will impact mental health care, with a focus on responsible integration and health equity. As part of this work, she focuses on using AI methods to derive insights from clinical data, with the aim of improving assessment, informing treatment decisions, and identifying and mitigating bias.

Kayle Donner

Research Methodologist and Program Evaluator at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH)

Kayle Donner is a research methodologist and program evaluator at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto, Canada. His work focuses on the measurement and evaluation of mental health education programs, specializing both in advanced quantitative methods and in participatory approaches. Kayle holds master’s degrees in education and psychology from Vanderbilt University and the University of Minnesota.

Connor Pineault

Research Student

Connor Pineault is an undergraduate research student from Queen's University at the Centre for Addiction and Mental health. He works across both the Azrieli Adult Neurodevelopmental Centre, and the Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics (KCNI). His work applies data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence to analyze complex clinical data. Through this interdisciplinary research, he aims to support the development of predictive models and digital tools that enhance the understanding and treatment of mental health and neurodevelopmental disorders

Jessica L. Jones, PhD

Director of Research and Evaluation and a member of the Executive Leadership Team at ECHO Institute

Jessica L. Jones, PhD is the Director of Research and Evaluation and a member of the Executive Leadership Team at ECHO Institute. She has been supporting ECHO evaluation and data efforts since 2017. She and her team of 25+ evaluators and data specialists – the Research, Evaluation, & Data Insights (REDI) Team – support the design and conduct of evaluations for New Mexico ECHO programs, as well as supporting the larger ECHO movement with data and evaluation services. Her academic training was in Political Science -International Relations, with a focus on quantitative research methods (e.g., advanced statistical analysis, machine learning) but she is versed in qualitative methods. She developed a love for teaching research design and data literacy during her graduate career and has converted this into a passion for sharing her knowledge of ECHO evaluation and research strategies.

Margaret Avera, PhD Candidate

PhD Candidate in the Political Science Department at the University of New Mexico

Margaret Avera is a PhD Candidate in the Political Science Department at the University of New Mexico. Her background is in international relations, particularly government repression. She has worked at Project ECHO for 5 years in various roles, currently serving as Project Assistant.

Brianna Mulligan, MS

Programmer Analyst with the Data Team of the REDI team of the ECHO Institute

Brianna is a Programmer Analyst with the Data Team of the REDI team of the ECHO Institute. She has a Master's in Computer Science from the University of New Mexico and for the last 3 years has built data pipelines, robust infrastructure, interactive dashboards, and Machine Learning processes that support, synthesize and grow Project ECHO’s global evidence base. Brianna is looking forward to sharing the ECHO Institute’s publication processes with Project ECHO’s global partners.

Annie Jiwan, MMI, HBSc

Program Manager of ECHO Epilepsy Across the Lifespan

Annie Jiwan has over 15+ years of project management, strategy and implementation expertise. She has been involved in the ECHO community since 2017: currently, she is the Program Manager of ECHO Epilepsy Across the Lifespan. She was previously the Program Manager of Paediatric Project ECHO, and was selected as an Implementation Fellow to study ECHOs across North America, through work funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Additionally, she helps lead the strategy work of the Learning Institute, the educational arm of the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids).

Prior to her time with ECHO and SickKids, Annie was a management consultant in strategy, organizational design, and program evaluation in the Canadian healthcare, public sector and not-for-profit space. She is a graduate of the Master of Management of Innovation (MMI) and Honours Bachelor of Life Sciences (HBSc) programs at the University of Toronto.
In her spare time, Annie enjoys exploring Toronto with her two-year-old toddler, to find fun restaurants and cafes to try.

Salina Eldon B.A., Dip. Child Studies

Project Manager of ECHO Ontario Autism at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital

Salina is the Project Manager of ECHO Ontario Autism at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. She has spent most of her career working with autistic individuals and their families in various roles including educator, psychometrist, manager of a school-based treatment program, and research coordinator. She also co-launched a community-based music program for neurodivergent adults, along with a group of local Toronto professional musicians. Salina has been project manager for ECHO Autism since it’s inception in 2018 and is a strong advocate for the benefits of the ECHO model.
